ESCALA and Grupo Garza Ponce have reached a strategic alliance with the automotive company Volvo to collaborate in the construction of its new plant in Ciénega de Flores, Nuevo León. The facility is projected to be the largest of the Swedish company worldwide.
The governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, has emphasized the importance of this project as a major boost for the region. The construction of the plant is seen as a significant step toward consolidating Nuevo León as a key center for the automotive industry.
The project will require an investment of 700 million dollars and is expected to generate two thousand 500 direct jobs and up to five thousand indirect jobs in the coming years. The plant is estimated to be operational by mid-2026.
The new Volvo plant in Nuevo León will focus on the manufacturing of Volvo tractors, as well as the assembly of vehicles, production of cabins, and painting. It is expected that the plant will significantly supply Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks businesses in the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
The project will have a construction area of 195 thousand square meters and will be carried out on four simultaneous fronts with the goal of completing the plant in 18 months. The land allocated for the project covers 120 hectares, of which 94 will be used for the construction of the plant and the remaining 26 will be dedicated to the creation of a Pocket Park, a model of community park.
Pedro Valdes, CEO of ESCALA, expressed pride in participating as Project Management in this ambitious project, highlighting that the construction of the Volvo plant in Nuevo León opens new investment opportunities for Mexico. With a covered area equivalent to 40 football fields, the plant will be Volvo's largest worldwide, reinforcing its presence in Mexico and offering new employment prospects.
